Butter cake flavoured with lemon and cream cheese..

This cake is very soft and moist .Lemon zest gives a very refreshing flavour . Cream cheese is also added along with lemon juice...

  • Prep: 20 mins
  • Cook: 40 mins


1 cup All purpose flour

1 tsp Baking powder

75 g Butter

30 g Cream cheese

3/4 cup Sugar

2 Egg

1 tbsp Lemon juice

2 tsp Lemon zest

1 tbsp Water

1/8 tsp Salt


1Pre heat the oven at 160 degree c . Grease and dust a 6" round tin . Sift flour ,baking powder and salt thrice .

2Cream butter well . Add cream cheese and lemon zest . Beat well . Add sugar and continue beating . Add lightly beaten eggs . Beat well .

3Gently fold in flour , lemon juice and water . Transfer the batter into the prepared cake tin . Bake for 40 minutes or until done .

We shud use the normal cream cheese available…Go or Britania or ne brand ? But these r pretty salty..

Jeena , you can add vanilla essence instead..Add 2 tbsp. extra water /milk .

Hi Shano
The cake looks nice
Can omit that lemon juice n zest part?? Coz I don’t like Lemon flavouršŸ˜–. I like the normal butter cake taste.
So ,to get tht taste,do I ve to add anything instead of lemon item??
Also can u please post a good ghee cake recipešŸ˜€
