This soft and moist cake is mildly flavoured with cinnamon . The colour of the cake deepens the next day . A very easy recipe to follow .

  • Prep: 20 mins
  • Cook: 40 mins

Ingredients

100 g Seedless dates

150 ml Water

150 g All purpose flour

1 tsp Baking Soda

75 g Salted Butter

125 g Sugar

1 Egg

1 tsp Cinnamon powder

Directions

1Pre heat the oven at 180 degree C . Grease and dust a 11x 7 1/2 " rectangle cake tin . Sift flour, baking soda and cinnamon powder thrice. Separate egg whites and yolks . Beat the egg whites and keep it aside . Chop the dates into small pieces .

2 Boil 150 ml water. Turn off the heat and add the dates and close it with a tight lid . Cream butter and sugar. Add lightly beaten egg yolks and cream well . Using a spatula gently fold in flour and dates starting and ending with flour . Fold in beaten egg whites . Transfer the batter into the prepared cake tin and bake for 40 minutes or until done .

Sharika..I don’t think you will this texture if you increase the quantity of dates..
You can use coconut sugar instead..

Hi I am baking for the second time in my life, I bought an oven on Monday.. got it installed on Tuesday.. baked a simple chocolate cake yesterday and today made this . first – i was confused with the grms measurements as i had only bought measuring spoons and did not have a scale so googled the grms= cups and did it.. after i made the batter i realized that it was too small for my 11X9 tin so i shifted everything into a bread tin. did it exactly the way you said and it was just WOW!!. I wish i could you send you pics so u can tell me if according to you it was ok?

Thanks and Much LOve

Hi Shano! I don’t have a 11×7 1/2 cake tin. Do you think I use this recipe in a 7inch cake tin? Thank you😊

hi Geena.
You can follow the same procedure. Chop the dates slightly larger..The batter is not thick enough to hold uncooked dates. The dates will sink ..Happy Baking

Hi Shano
Your dates CAKE looks very yummy. I love dates CAKE. I like to have with a bits of dates in the CAKE. By reading the Recipe I think it don’t have pieces of dates in between ,right.
If I want dates pieces do I ve to cook it and add in the batter or just chop it and add???
Please guide me
Jeena
