Soft ,dark & moist chocolate cake ..

This cake is very soft and moist .This can be frosted too .Fresh cream is added instead of butter .

  • Prep: 20 mins
  • Cook: 40 mins


1 cup All purpose flour / maida

1/2 cup Cocoa powder

1 tsp Baking powder

1 1/8 cup Sugar

1 cup Fresh cream

2 Eggs

1/2 tsp Grape essence

1/8 tsp Salt


1Prepare a 8 " cake tin . Sift cocoa powder ,flour and baking powder thrice . Powder the sugar and sift it . Separate egg whites and yolks . Beat egg whites until stiff . Pre heat the oven at 160 degree C .

2Beat the cream and powdered sugar. Add beaten egg yolks . Add grape essense . Fold in flour mixture .Do not stir , Gently fold in egg whites .

3Transfer the batter to the prepared cake tin and bake for 40 minutes or until done.

Surely going to try this. One quick qs, is the sugar quantity mentioned above (1 1/8cup) granulated sugar. Because I use castor sugar for most recipes unless the recipe asks for brown or demerara sugar.
